Women’s equality, justice, peace in the world, service and care for the poor: remember those ideals we all long for?? Remember the Jesus of early times and how he reached out to all?
There are groups in the world reaching out and serving others, with joy. We may be small, we may also be poor, a minority, a people struggling to be free, but we are helping.
You too, can go beyond your own borders, be it your Catholic upbringing, or any religious limitations. You can reach out and share and be heard. Together we can be spiritually vibrant, listen to the Spirit and offer what we want to share: be it ideas, time, money or technical skills.
Our two main goals at this time are:
- To help women find equality in ordained ministry if they feel called.
- Develop a program for leadership right now with the women seeking ordained ministry and then sharing this program through education, delivered by interactive video talks and sessions.
Mission Statement
Offer to all people in a manner faithful to the Spirit of Jesus, services that provide justice, reconciliation and community.
MISSION:
Our mission is to embrace, mentor and support leaders empowered by the Spirit to serve others.
BELIEFS:
Faith in the loving power of the Spirit. That we are empowered by the Spirit to serve others as Jesus did. In this way, as Jesus taught us, we respect, celebrate and build all of God’s Creation.
VALUES:
Respect for the individual and communal gifts of all. Dedication to the development of responsible and creative leadership that breaks down barriers and borders and that facilitates healing and productive behaviour.
We hold Jesus as a model leader. He chose people to do leadership tasks. He asked them to teach God’s way of healing the suffering that people experience. This invitation was inclusive regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion or past behaviour.
Operational values:
In important matters of decision-making, we use a collegial approach based on consensus reached through communal discernment in the Spirit. In practical, everyday matters, we respect the decisions of those entrusted with particular responsibilities, demanding only that they remain open and accountable at all times.
Program
In a period of rapid globalization, Ministry Without Borders is critically aware of the need for leaders who can respond to the real life problems of people.
MWB believes that wholesome leadership can make a difference in resolving these problems. Good leadership recognizes that everyone has creative gifts and that everyone is called to share them for the benefit of all. Good leadership encourages and mobilizes such creative gifting.
At the present time, MWB chooses to support the leadership ministry of the Roman Catholic Women Priests movement (RCWP) in Canada. Why? Because the RCWP vision of ordained ministry expresses well what MWB stands for and hopes to accomplish. For background information in support of this choice, consult the relevant information at the MWB links to News/Articles and Resources/Links.
Specifically, MWB supports:
1) The promotion of the RCWP vision of ordained ministry.
2) The leadership training program for women and men who feel called by the Spirit to ordained ministry within the RCWP movement.
We need funds, particularly, for promotion materials, for travel expenses linked to promotion or ministry events, for training materials and the computer technology for their interactive delivery to candidates for ordained ministry.
